About Clinical Trials

For Patients

Clinical trials are essential because they help ensure new treatments are safe and effective before doctors start using them with all their patients.

What are clinical trials?

A clinical trial is a research study that tests new ways to prevent, detect or treat diseases in people. Taking part in a clinical trial could mean you get access to new treatments before they are widely available, or receive more tests, clinical care and support than you would normally be able to access through your GP.

Clinical trials can lead to more effective treatments being available to all patients, and by taking part you will be contributing to the future of healthcare for all NHS patients.

We will clearly discuss with you, the time commitments and activities in the trial you may be suitable for, while making sure that you have the right medical conditions and medications to be suitable to take part. If you have any questions during this process, our experienced clinical staff are here to help.
