Participation Process
Taking part in a clinical trial is a guided process. From your first conversation with your GP to the final follow-up, each step is designed to ensure your safety, comfort, and understanding. Here’s how it works:
If you’re interested in research, your GP can check if a study is available at your practice. Orizzonte works with GPs to identify patients who might be eligible based on their health records.
A member of the research team will explain the purpose of the trial, what’s involved, and what to expect. You can take time to consider whether it’s right for you.
You’ll only join if you decide to. Before anything starts, you’ll sign an informed consent form after discussing your rights and responsibilities. It’s your choice.
We’ll do some basic checks (e.g. medical history, lab tests) to confirm if you meet the criteria for the study.
If eligible, you’ll officially join the study. Depending on the design, you may be randomly assigned to a treatment or comparison group (such as a placebo).
You’ll attend scheduled appointments—often at your usual GP surgery. Our research team will carry out the necessary procedures and support you throughout.
After treatment, we’ll stay in touch to check how you’re doing. This might include phone calls or in-person check-ins.
Once the study ends, you’ll return to standard care. You may be updated on the results, and your participation will have helped improve future healthcare.
